Phase III - Piney Dam
Work started on Phase III to resurface the face of the Piney Generation Station for GPU/GENCO on May 18, 1999. The project was located south of Interstate 80 on the scenic Clarion River in Clarion County. Phase III work entailed removing the existing concrete and the placement of new concrete on the vertical faceway of the dam below Gate 9 and Gate 10. All work for this phase of the project was conducted on scaffolding mounted to the face of the dam surface. Current weather conditions were carefully monitored during the project for the possibility of flooding. Approximately 200 yds of concrete was placed in this phase of work. The project was completed on September 2, 1999.
