Phase II - Piney Dam
Work started on Phase II to resurface the face of the Piney Generation Station for GPU/GENCO on June 16, 1998. The project is located south of Interstate 80 on the scenic Clarion River in Clarion County. Phase I of this project consisted of the resurfacing of the lower spillway surface of the dam and this project was completed in December 1997. Phase II consisted of the demolition of existing concrete and placement of new concrete on the vertical faceway of the dam from the bucket section to the crest. All work for this phase of the project was conducted on scaffolding mounted to the face of the dam surface. Current weather conditions were carefully monitored the entire length of the project for possible flooding. Approximately 350 yds of concrete was placed in this phase of work.
