Deicing Containment Facility, University Park Airport
FRANCIS J. PALO, INC. was awarded a contract on January 13, 2005 with The Pennsylvania State University to construct an Aircraft Deicing Containment Facility at the University Park Airport in Centre County, Benner Twp. Major items of work included approximately 47,000 CY of unclassified excavation, installation of a 60 mil high density polyethylene liner, placement of 26" of 2A subbase, 8" of BCBC, and 4" bituminous wearing course, installation of a deicing runoff storage tank with a package pump system and force main, and construction of a deicing equipment storage facility. Other major items of work included installing a new trench drain system complete with underdrain and new inlets at various locations on the apron. Miscellaneous items of work were drainage improvements, pavement marking, and lighting installations. The project started on March 28, 2005 and was finished on November 18, 2006.
